World Travel Tips

If you are planning your first trip to a foreign country, you will likely want some pointers on how to handle yourself, what to do, and thus what to pack, etc. The following is the beginning of a list of world travel tips that you may consider before your trip. These world travel tips, by no means, are meant to be the sole things that you should consider, just a beginning in the process. I still recommend doing online searches as well as friend to friend questioning and checking with your travel agent before booking any trip.

Africa is probably one of the best places to visit if you are interested in a vacation of adventure. There are excursions in the wilds of Africa that you can experience, safaris that can be taken, and generally just a lot of things that we as Americans are not used to seeing on a regular basis. There is even a place in Cape Town, South Africa where you can pay to spend three hours underwater watching the great white sharks hunting for their next meal. If you decide to take the trip to Africa, consider Kenya for their wonderful coffee. I know you may think I am crazy, but Kenya is the world's third largest coffee producer, and they make the best cup of coffee you will ever drink. I don't know if it is because of the fertile ground that grows the coffee or because of the freshness of the just- picked bean, but the coffee there is enough to make you want to bring home some for everyone on your Christmas list. What makes the Kenyans' love for coffee so strange is that they were not introduced to it until around 1890 and did not start growing it in their country until 1954. Now it has become their main export crop.

If you are planning a trip to central Asia, and I recommend that you do some time in your life, you will want to bring along your own roll of toilet paper. I know, it is hard for us Americans to believe that there is a civilized country that still does not have the love for toilet tissue that we hold in such high regard. Also, consider drinking things besides water on your trips to this area. Bottle water is available, but it tends to be saltier than our taste buds are accustomed to drinking. The sodas and juices are generally safe to drink.

If you are considering a trip to ole Mexico, you must spend some time in Chihuahua. Chihuahua's Copper Canyon (Barranca Del Cobre) is four times as large and 300 feet deeper than the US Grand Canyon. There is a train (the Chihuahua al Pacifico) that passes through the canyon, and from that train you can see the most beautiful sunsets in the world. The cliffs of the canyon change color as the sun sets and the view is spectacular. You can catch the train every morning and ride to see all of the wonderful sights. There is a wonderful hotel that offers guests a glorious view of the canyon from its rim-side location. There are still Indian tribes that live nearby in caves and sell their hand-made gifts to the tourists.

I hope these world travel tips have helped you to make a decision on where you are considering your next vacation. Just do the research and ask questions before you book any vacation, and remember, when in doubt, don't drink the water.
