Consider Italy For Your World Travel Vacation

Many people have considered traveling the world at some point in their lives. If you are considering a vacation to a foreign destination, please consider Italy for your world travel vacation this year. There is so much to see and do and you will be the envy of all of your friends when you return from your trek through the Italian countryside.

Most people go to Italy and spend a week or so and see all that they can possibly see in as little time as possible. They go home from their vacation and wish they had a few more days off to recuperate from being on vacation. What a vicious cycle. The best thing to do is to sit down before you trip and plan one or two attractions each day. Visit those on the schedule and call it quits. Italy will still be there when you get ready to come back.

If you are a history buff, you may find that Pompeii is the place that tops your desired list of foreign locales. This location in Italy is the site of the great eruption of Mt Vesuvius some 2000 years ago. The city was completely destroyed, yet perfectly preserved by the lava that filled the city streets in an instant after the eruption. Seeing the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum (also destroyed in the same manner) is like stepping back in time to a place that time forgot. The history that lies there is more than we as Americans can ever experience in our home country.

All roads lead to Rome. Or at least that is what they say. Rome is full of history and liveliness. A week can be spent in Rome alone with its rich history, art, churches, and museums. We have all seen pictures of the Roman Coliseum, but the photos do this structure no justice. It is perched at the center of Rome, where it has been for over 2000 years and was once the hub of the city, seating 50,000 people for the events of its day. Nearby is the Forum, where Julius Ceasar was killed by his colleagues on the Ides of March.

Venice is the city of canals. This unique city is located on the southern coast of Italy and is surrounded by water. The best way to get to Venice is by boat or train. If you have seen pictures of Venice, then you know that the best way to get around the city is by boat, or Gondola. The city actually covers 117 small islands surrounded by 150 canals that boast 409 bridges. You have never, and likely will never see anything that compares to Venice.

If you are into wine or just the basic history of Italy altogether, then you will want to make it down into wine country. Tuscany is the region most famous for wine making and can be toured daily through the vineyards and other business open to the public. There is also the island of Elba that is famous for its wine and also its history with Napoleon Bonaparte. He was first imprisoned there before his escape and subsequent loss at Waterloo.

We have discussed very little in the aspect of the tourist attractions offered in the great country of Italy. If you are truly interested in such a great location for your next trip, consider Italy for your world travel vacation.
